JR McNamara
J.R. McNamara has been haunting this Earth since the summer of '69, which he believes is why Bryan Adams thinks so highly of it. He has always had aspiration of being a filmaker, an artist or a writer, and has tried his hand at all of them.
Several years ago he made a 5 minute film called 'Aaaargh!!!! Zombies!!!!', an experience he enjoyed (and you can too by visiting www.youtube.com/rancidfilms ) but discovered that making films was difficult if you don't have any friends that will work for free... or a video camera that works at all!! He has also tried some stop motion experiments but tragically doesn't have enough patience to continue with it.
As an artist, J.R. has had some success: several years ago he had an exhibition at the Sydney Fringe Comedy and Art Festival as part of the set for some stand up comedy, and his artwork was also used for the now defunct clothing accessories store Shotgun Wedding. Some of this artwork can be seen at http://www.myspace.com/jvzart . He has also created many comic characters and ideas, and has recently started an (initially) online comic company with an old school buddy called Yowie Print. Our work can be seen both at http://www.yowieprint.com/ and www.myspace.com/yowieprint .
Five years ago, on a whim, J.R. decided to submit a film review to http://www.digital-retribution.com/ , which was accepted and he has never looked back. Over the years he has submitted about 220 reviews, both to this site and others not worth talking about. More recently he discovered that writing can also be used for good, and has started taking some of his film and comic ideas and is developing them into actual written words. J.R. is also a bit fan of poetry, and has received critical acclaim for some that he has written... well, just from his Mum....when he was 10.
J.R. believes he has found his 'thing' with writing, and hopefully it will be eventually enjoyed by others.
In addition to this, JR was a regular contributor to the now defunct 2UE Sunday Night at the Movies show, where he usually can be found gnawing on bones at the lower end of the cinematic food chain, discussing horror or cult films.
